Houseflies

Houseflies are extremely common insects, found all over the world, and are highly active indoors. In colder climates breeding generally stops before winter, but in warmer environments houseflies remain active and reproduce throughout the year.

Apart from their obvious nuisance houseflies can transmit intestinal worms and are potential carriers of diseases such as dysentery, gastroenteritis, typhoid, cholera and tuberculosis. They will feed indiscriminately on any liquefiable food, which may be moist or putrefying material or food stored for human consumption.
