A mosquito mat is a cardboard mat (typically with dimensions 35mm x 22mm x 2.8mm) impregnated with an insecticide solution. This is heated on an electric heater to vaporise the insecticide slowly and give protection from mosquito biting for 8 to 12 hours. The mat also contains a dye that gradually changes colour to show when the mat is exhausted. The insecticide solution normally contains a release control agent and a stabiliser to provide controlled release of the insecticide over the use period.
